Director's Update:

Hello Parents!
We have had a wonderful
start to our school year so far. I
was very pleased to see so many students in attendance on our Summer Band Day
and at Meet & Greet. It was nice to
meet everyone that was there. Your
students have already impressed me with their behavior and musical ability.
I’m so excited to be here at Mance
Park
and to be working with your children!
I wanted to give you a few reminders and clarify a few things in the
handbook.
- You should have
received a supplies list with all of the required supplies and prices.
This form and money is due on
Tuesday, Sep. 2. It is important
to have it in by that day so that orders can be made.
Some of the supplies your student may already have, but regardless of
that EVERYONE must buy a new band polo that complies with the school dress
code.
- Your forms in the back
of the handbook including the: Receipt Page, Medical Release Form,
Information Sheet, and Picture Release Form are all due on
Friday, Sep. 5.
- The Instrument Rental,
Repair, and Maintenance Agreement along with the fee of $40 should also be
turned in Friday, Sep. 5 for
those who are using school instruments.
- Private lessons are
strongly encouraged in the Mance Park Band Program.
Quality teachers are available to help your child improve on his/her
instrument. Please consider letting
your child take advantage of this opportunity. The Private Lesson
Information and Agreement Sheet is also due
Friday, Sep. 5.
Information about scholarships through the Band Boosters is available upon
request.
- In order to become
successful on a musical instrument, daily practice is essential.
Therefore, students will be required to practice daily and turn in
practice records in class every Wednesday for a daily grade.
The first practice record will start Sep. 3 and be due on Sep. 10.
- Sectionals will be
scheduled after school, and will start the second week of school. Students
receive a weekly test grade based on their sectional attendance.
A schedule specific to each band will be on
the website.
- Also, we made a few
changes to the calendar. Please throw
out the old one! The revised calendar is in the handbook and will also be on
the website.
This is going to be a great
year and we’re very excited. If you
