Nicholas
Luggerio, B.S., J.D., B.M., M.M.Nicholas Luggerio is the Director
of Bands at Huntsville High School.
He also serves as the Music and Dance
Supervisor for the Huntsville Independent School District.
He works with all bands throughout HISD at
Huntsville Intermediate School, Mance Park Middle School and Huntsville
High School.
He began his work in Huntsville in 2004. Luggerio is a graduate of
Kingwood High School where he was a student of Linda Tiner.
His journey to becoming a Band Director took
a very different path. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Political
Science with a Minor in Management from Texas A&M University where he
was one of the Drum Majors of the Nationally Famous Fightin’ Texas Aggie
Band.
He then attended and graduated from South Texas
College of Law in downtown Houston with his Doctor of Jurisprudence.
He left the practice of law to attend
Stephen F. Austin State University, earning his Bachelor of Music where
he studied with Fred J. Allen and Brian Britt.
While attending SFA, Luggerio was a Teaching
Assistant to the Lumberjack Marching Band.
Luggerio earned a Masters of
Music-Conducting from Sam Houston State University where he studied with
Matthew McInturf. Luggerio began his public school
band career as the Assistant Director at Pine Tree ISD in Longview,
Texas, and then was Director of Bands at Crosby ISD in Crosby, Texas,
before coming to Huntsville.
Under Luggerio’s leadership the Huntsville
High School Band has earned consecutive First Division Awards in
Marching, Concert and Sight Reading performances, resulting in
consecutive UIL Sweepstakes awards.
Additionally, Huntsville Band students have
earned numerous All-Region, Area and State Band placements and Solo &
Ensemble medals each year.
During Luggerio’s tenure, the Huntsville
Band Program has doubled the number of students involved and the number
of performing groups.
The Huntsville Band has traveled and
performed in Winter Park, Colorado (2006), at the World War II Memorial
in Washington D.C. (2008) and at the Walt Disney World Resort (2005,
2010). In his capacity as Music and
Dance Supervisor, Luggerio works to coordinate all Elementary Music,
Choir, Band and Dance activities in the Huntsville Independent School
District.
Luggerio composes, arranges and edits many
musical pieces performed by the Huntsville Bands and charts all drills
performed by the Huntsville Hornet Military Marching Band.
He teaches leadership camps to band students
throughout the state.
He holds memberships in the Texas Music
Educators Association, Texas Bandmasters Association, Texas Music
Adjudicator’s Association, Texas Music Administrator’s Conference,

John Green is in his eighth year of teaching. He is currently the Associate Director of Bands at Huntsville High School where he conducts the Wind Ensemble, the Swingin’ Stingers Jazz Band, and the Huntsville Herald Trumpet Team. Prior to his tenure at Huntsville High School, Mr. Green taught at New Diana High School as the Assistant Band Director. Mr. Green graduated from Gilmer High School in 1998 and went on to major in music at Kilgore College, where he earned his Associate of Arts Degree in 2000. After transferring to Stephen F. Austin State University, he earned his Bachelor of Music Degree in 2003. Mr. Green’s professional affiliations include the Association of Texas Professional Educators, Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Bandmasters Association, Kappa Kappa Psi, and National Association of Military Marching Bands. |

Melissa Ann Boone has taught in
Huntsville ISD for the past four years.
She is currently the Assistant Director of
Bands at Huntsville High School, where she conducts the Symphonic Band
and Swarmin’ Hornets Pep Band.
Prior to working at the High School, Ms.
Boone was the Assistant Director of Bands at Mance Park Middle School,
in Huntsville, for three years.
While at Mance Park she conducted the
Symphonic Band and taught Trombone, Euphonium, and Tuba beginning band
classes at Huntsville Intermediate School.
Ms. Boone earned her Bachelor
of Music Education from Louisiana State University.
While at LSU she was a member of the Award
Winning LSU Tiger Marching Band.
She also performed with the LSU Symphonic
Winds, Tuba/Euphonium Ensemble, and the Bengal Brass Band.
Ms. Boone is a member of several
professional music organizations including Texas Music Educators
Association, Texas Bandmasters Association, Music Educators National
Conference, Sigma Alpha Iota, and Kappa Kappa Psi. |
