Austin Nelson
Assistant Director

Austin Nelson started teaching in 2021. He began at Teague ISD as Assistant Director of Bands and is now the Percussion Director at Huntsville ISD, where he works with all percussion - grades 6 through 12.
After graduating from Jacksonville High School, Mr. Nelson attended Tyler Junior College where he attained an Associate degree in music. Excited to continue his education, Mr. Nelson then attended Stephen F. Austin, where he earned a Bachelor of Music Education, specializing in percussion. Mr. Nelson has performed in a wide variety of ensembles including: marching band, concert band, percussion ensembles, orchestra, and steel band. He has also performed in WGI, participating in the WGI championship, and is a proud alumnus of the TJC drumline, the Apache Punch!
Mr. Nelson is also a current member of the Texas Education Agency, the Texas Music Educators Association, and the Texas Bandmasters Association.
