Mitchell Filipiak started his teaching career during his junior year of high school in his home town Gurnee, Illinois. After high school graduation, he attended The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio where he earned a Bachelor of Music Education. Not through focusing on his instrumental education, he then attended The University of Hartford Hartt School located in Hartford, Connecticut where he earned a Master of Trombone Performance.
In 2017, he moved to Denton Texas to teach private trombone lessons and quickly built up a large studio within the Denton and Lake Dallas ISD’s. In 2021 Mr. Filipiak started his school teaching career with the Mance Park Middle School band program and has loved seeing his students daily.
When not teaching, Mr. Filipiak loves to listen to music, read books about most subjects, engage in discourse with his friends and colleagues, eat delicious foods, experience the outdoors alone and with others, and sleep a non-negotiable 8 hours a night.
