Dr. Linda Wiley ljwiley@att.net 936-662-3177 Linda Wiley began teaching flute in 1971 during her freshman year at SHSU. After a 20-year “hiatus” from flute, during which she taught academics for Windham (TDCJ), and earned a PhD from Texas A&M, she resumed flute teaching and performing and has continued both to the present. Linda holds both Bachelor’s of Music Education and Master’s of Arts (performance) degrees from SHSU. Her flute teacher at Sam was Jan Cole, who studied in France with renowned flutist Jean Pierre Rampal. As a soloist, Linda has performed numerous recitals in Huntsville and the surrounding area. She has also played for many musical theatre productions in Conroe and at SHSU and for various area churches. egh009@shsu.edu Emily has been studying and performing on various instruments for 13 years with a focus being on flute and piccolo. She is currently pursuing her Masters degree in instrumental performance and achieved her undergraduate degree in instrumental performance with highest academic honors from Sam Houston State University in the Spring of 2023. Emily has had the pleasure of performing at a variety of venues across the world, most notably at Palacio de San Francisco in Avila, Spain. Emily has made many appearances in the Texas Music Educators Association Region Orchestras and Honor Bands throughout her career. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with friends and family, horseback riding, and baking in the kitchen. Emily has joined Huntsville Independent School District to share her passion for music with the youth of the community. ![]() Clarinet
Claudia Fuenmayor claudiafuenmayor@gmail.com Hello all! My name is Claudia Fuenmayor. I am a clarinet and oboe player at Sam Houston State University; I’m going into my fifth year of Music Education. I am actively involved within the School of Music along with other community ensembles and school districts. I am currently the Principal Clarinetist of the SHSU Wind Ensemble and SHSU Symphony Orchestra. Carlos Urbina carlos.urbinajr13@gmail.com Carlos Urbina grew up in the DFW area and attended North Mesquite High School. He is majoring in Music Education at Sam Houston State University and is excited to become a music educator within the years to come. During his studies at Sam Houston State University, he performed in the SHSU Symphony Orchestra, Jazz Lab Band, Men’s Choir, and Symphonic Band while serving as a section leader of the Bearkat Marching Band. He studies trombone with Mr. Robert Osborne and at the moment is preparing for his Senior Recital scheduled in November. ![]() Tuba
Roberto Gaitan rcg033@shsu.edu Hello! I am Roberto Gaitan. I have been the Principal Tubist at Sam Houston for two years. I’ve had the privilege of being in every ensemble that SHSU has provided. In my high school years, I was a 6A All State member and received multiple accolades and scholarships for my playing. I have taught masterclasses and private lessons in many surrounding districts, but I am looking forward to teaching at Huntsville High school. I can’t wait to meet my new students! |

Mollie Potter Mollie.page.potter@gmail.com Hello! My name is Mollie Potter and I am currently a fifth-year student at Sam Houston State University pursuing my Bachelor of Music in Music Therapy. I feel privileged to be the principal oboist of the Sam Houston Symphony Orchestra and to participate in various chamber groups both within the school of music and in the community. I am grateful for the support I have received from Huntsville ISD, Porter ISD, and Willis ISD in maintaining a full schedule of private lessons with talented young musicians who inspire me every day. Candence Rehbein cer075@shsu.edu My name is Cadence Rehbein and I am a Music Education Major at Sam Houston State University. I am a Sophomore at SHSU and I am performing in the Wind Ensemble, Jazz Lab Band, the Bearkat Marching Band, and a saxophone quartet. bxd060@shsu.edu Brenden Dolehanty is pursuing his Master of Music degree in conducting under Dr. Matthew McInturf at Sam Houston State University, where he serves as a Graduate Assistant with the Bearkat Marching Band and Concert Bands. Originally from Michigan, Mr. Dolehanty earned his BM degree in music education at Bowling Green State University (OH), studying saxophone with Distinguished Artist Professor Dr. John Sampen and jazz saxophone with David Bixler. Additionally, Mr. Dolehanty studied at the prestigious Fredrick L. Hemke Saxophone Institute for three summers. At the institute, he studied with Dr. Fred Hemke, Dr. Gail Levinsky, Dr. Nathan Nabb, Dr. Jan Berry Baker, and Dr. John Sampen. Mr. Dolehanty began his teaching career in Del Rio at San Felipe Memorial Middle School where he taught 6th-grade beginning band for three years. He was most recently an Assistant Band Director at Brackenridge High School in San Antonio ISD for two years, where he directed the symphonic (non-varsity), jazz, and beginning bands. ![]() French Horn Nate Gandara edward.gandarah@gmail.com Nate Gandara graduated in 2020 from the L.V. Berkner STEM Academy located in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. After graduation, he attended Blinn College Brenham Campus to begin his musical career. While at Blinn, he performed in the Wind Ensemble, Jazz, Brass, and Woodwind Ensembles, playing both horn and trumpet. In Fall of 2022, Nate transferred to Sam Houston State University, where he is currently in his third year of Music Performance. Since the transfer, he has performed with the Bearkat Marching Band, Symphonic Band, and Concert Band. ![]() Euphonium
Melissa Green mbgreen12@gmail.com I am a graduate of Louisiana State University and I have my bachelors degree in Music Education. I have taught band in Huntsville both at the middle and high school levels for 8 years. I decided to take some time off from full time teaching, once I had my Son JJ in 2016 so I would have more time for our growing family. Now I am the proud mother of 3 beautiful kiddos, JJ, Emily, and Aubrey. I have been teaching private lessons since 2017 and I am currently the general music teacher at Faith Lutheran School part time.
