Ileana Aguilar-Soberanis

Ileana Aguilar-Soberanis is in her second year of teaching and first year of teaching in Huntsville ISD as the head band director of Huntsville Intermediate School. Aside from overseeing the beginner band program, Ms. Aguilar teaches double reeds, french horn, trombone, and Euphonium. Twice a week, she goes to Huntsville High School to help with Symphonic and Concert Band as well. Ms. Aguilar is a native Houstononian and graduated from Eisenhower High School in 2014. She later received her Bachelor of Music Education, with a Minor in Psychology, from Lamar University (Peck 'em Cards!) in 2021. During her time at Lamar University, she marched bass drum with The Showcase of SouthEast Texas, performed as a trombonist in the Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble, Jazz Orchestra, and other various ensembles. In addition, Ms. Aguilar taught private lessons on trombone and tuba, was a marching technician for various high schools, including Splendora HS and Porter HS, and a Soprano for the Kingwood Chorale. She began her Master of Instrumental Conducting degree in August 2022 through Stephen F. Austin State University (Axe 'Em Jacks!).
When not in the band hall, Ms. Aguilar enjoys trying out new coffee shops, reading, doing yoga, spending time with her amazing dogs, practicing trombone, and spending time with her fiance and percussionist, Erick Benavides. Ms. Aguilar's professional affiliations include the Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Bandmasters Association, Texas Education Agency, Percussive Arts Society, and Tau Beta Sigma, the National Honorary Band Sorority. |
